Year 5 and 6 Spelling List — KS2 Spelling Game 🎓

The Year 5 and 6 statutory spelling list is the set of 100 words pupils in England are expected to spell by the end of Key Stage 2, from the National Curriculum's English Appendix 1 — necessary, accommodate, rhythm, queue and the rest. How the levels work

All 104 words are split into three by length, so the same list works across the class:

• Easy — the shortest words (5–8 letters).
• Medium — the middle of the list (8–9 letters).
• Hard — the longest words (9–13 letters), where one missed letter matters most.

Where the list gives more than one form — equip(-ped, -ment), immediate(ly), sincere(ly) — each form is included, so the category holds a few more than 100.

Spelling games for the classroom
