Difficulty levels

Three difficulty levels — Easy, Medium and Hard — allow you to match the challenge to your students' ability. Easy words suit primary and beginner learners. Hard words challenge GCSE and advanced learners.

How to use it in class

• Display mode — project Hangmango on your classroom screen and play as a whole class activity. Students take turns suggesting letters.
• Individual practice — share the link via your VLE, Google Classroom, or any learning platform. Students play independently on their devices.
• Custom word mode — enter this week's spelling list or topic vocabulary before class. Pass the device to a student to guess your word.
• Set as homework — the link works on any home device, no accounts needed.

The 7 languages available

Hangmango is currently available in English, Latin American Spanish, French, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Welsh and Turkish — with more languages being added regularly. Each language version has its own localised word lists built around vocabulary relevant to that language's culture and curriculum.

Welsh medium schools

Hangmango's Welsh language version was designed specifically with Welsh medium education in mind. Categories include Cymru (Wales), Ysgol (School) and Chwedlau (Welsh legends and mythology) — vocabulary directly relevant to Welsh medium curricula. It is believed to be the only modern browser-based Welsh word guessing game available.
